Tricent Support will sometimes ask you to send them a so-called .har file. The file is a recording of what happens in the browser in connection with an issue and can help our technical staff with troubleshooting.
Here's how you create the file in commonly-used browsers.
Chrome
When you are in Tricent for Google Workspace at the page where the issue is occurring:
- Click the ⋮ in the upper right corner and select More Tools
- Click Developer Tools. This opens a side panel, that you keep open while recording the issue and downloading the .har file.
- Select the Network tab.
- Make sure the record button is red - if not, then click it.
- Checkmark the box Preserve log.
- Click the clear button .
- Now reproduce the issue while the network requests are recorded.
- Click the download button and save the .har file to your computer.
Safari
When you are in Tricent for Google Workspace at the page where the issue is occurring:
- Go to the Develop in the top menu. If you don't see Develop in the menu, you can see how to turn it on in this article: Use the developer tools in the Develop menu in Safari on Mac.
- Select Show Web Inspector. This opens a bottom panel, that you keep open while recording the issue and downloading the .har file.
- Click the Network tab.
- Reproduce the issue.
- Click the Export icon to save the .har file to your computer.
Edge
When you are in Tricent for Google Workspace at the page where the issue is occurring:
- Follow the instructions in this article.
- Reproduce the issue.
- Export the captured traffic as a .har file.
