Bulk cleanup is a very effective way to clean up large quantities of shared files.
This means that for the selected user or users, all files modified or created - if you have selected that in your global settings - on or before the selected date, will be unshared in one go. If you are doing a bulk cleanup on hundreds or thousands of files the operation will, however, take some time.
If you have enabled internal cleanup in your global settings, it will also include internally shared files.
This is a very efficient way of getting to the bottom of accounts with many shared files and is also highly advisable in user off-boarding situations.
How to perform a bulk cleanup
1. Select the user or users you want to bulk cleanup.
2. Pick a date.
3. If you want the bulk cleanup to skip safelisted files, you can tick Respect safelisted files.
4. Click Unshare.
5. This will prompt a pop-up window that summarizes the cleanup you are about to initiate.
Click Unshare files to initiate the bulk cleanup.
Once completed, you will receive an email about it, and you will be able to see the bulk unsharing in the Event Logs.
Please note, however, that bulk cleanup may take a long time to complete if you bulk cleanup on all or large amounts of your users. Hours. Even days. But the good news is that it doesn't need your attention along the way. The process will crunch away bit by bit while you close the Tricent tool and work on other stuff.
