Here is a list of core concepts that are good to know when it comes to Tricent for Microsoft 365.
Admin |
One of the four roles in Tricent. An Admin has access to all of your organization's sharing information in Tricent, but not to the Settings area.
Azure Active Directory |
Your Azure Active Directory is, as you likely know, the place where you create, remove, and maintain users and groups. In relation to Tricent, it is where you set up and revoke the Admin and Super Admin roles on those users and groups.
Cleanup |
Doing a cleanup is synonymous with unsharing files or teams. This can be performed manually from the Insights page or automated with or without user involvement.
End-user |
The most basic of the four roles in Tricent. End-users have access to unsharing their own files and teams through the unshare notification emails.
Enterprise applications |
For Tricent to have the necessary rights to perform its tasks, we ask you to grant access to three so-called enterprise applications. This is done during the onboarding of Tricent. The three applications are called Tricent API, Tricent Portal API, and Tricent Metadata Scanner.
External domains |
A domain that is not your own primary domain or included on the Trusted domains list under Settings.
Externally shared file/team |
An item that external users have access to.
External users |
A user with an email address from a domain that is not your own primary or included in the Trusted domains list under Settings.
Expiration date |
The date the (external) share will end for an item.
File-owner |
The user/entity that owns the file. Ownership of files placed in a Teams channel or SharePoint files folder is handed over to the owner of that Team or folder.
Link-share |
A link used to give access to unnamed users. Is considered by Tricent as external access and counted as one external user.
Roll-back |
A feature under the History page, that allows Admins and Super Admins to undo carried out changes such as unsharings or shifts in team ownership.
Shared file |
A file shared with other users from the end-user's own OneDrive, a SharePoint folder or a Teams channel.
Super Admin |
This is one of the four roles in Tricent. An Admin has access to all of your organization's sharing information in Tricent, and also the Settings area.
Team-owner |
A user that owns a specific team and inherited files within that team.
Team cleanup responsible |
A user appointed to be responsible for cleaning up teams and files within team channels, as an alternative to team-owners.
Tenant |
Your unit of subscription services with Microsoft.
Trusted user |
A user with an email address on your primary domain or a domain that is included in the Trusted domains list under Settings.
User |
A person with access to your organization's files, folders, or teams. A user can be either Trusted or External. Trusted users are those on your own domain or the domains that you list in the Settings area. External users are everyone else.
